Compare behavior, not labels
Product status · September 21, 2026A WoW rotation addon typically recommends an ability; a rotation bot can also automate input. Blizzard’s built-in Single-Button Assistant is another category: the player activates a button to use the recommended ability. Compare what a tool actually does, not just whether its name says helper or assistant.
Recommendation addons
A recommendation addon presents the next action while the player performs the input. Compatibility depends on the addon’s current release and the game APIs it uses. An addon that worked in an older expansion is not automatically a working Midnight replacement.
For example, HeroRotation and MaxDps Rotation Helper publish their own compatibility and release information. Review the exact client support there instead of treating every rotation-helper search result as equivalent.
Blizzard’s own UI assistants
Blizzard describes Assisted Highlight as a visual recommendation and Single-Button Assistant as a button that casts a recommended damage ability when activated. The tools were introduced in the Legacy of Arathor update.
Those built-in features should not be confused with external automation. Their presence in one client also does not establish availability or identical behavior in every Classic edition or in Forever.
Desktop rotation automation
Lazy Raider evaluates editable Lua priorities on the desktop using screen observations. When enabled, it can send bound ability input. That makes its behavior different from a visual-only recommendation addon, even though the overlay also shows useful combat controls.
The current development app targets Forever on macOS. Midnight and Classic profiles remain staged. No public desktop release or membership checkout is available yet; the authoring skill is available separately.
Compare the details that affect your character
Check the exact edition, operating system, class coverage and input behavior first. Then look at editable priorities, interrupt handling, cooldown controls, observation limits, pricing and actual release availability. Claims about perfect damage or universal support need evidence from the relevant client.
Account rules are another distinction. Blizzard’s EULA restricts unauthorized automation. An external tool being called a helper, or reading pixels, does not make it equivalent to a built-in feature.
